Dean RussellOriginally from Ferndale and a long time Whatcom County resident, Dean Russell is a 24 year member of the PGA of America. Having served most recently as the Head Professional at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club for nearly 16 years, Dean also served at the Overlake Golf & Country Club from 1983-87. A golf professional since 1980, was named the Western Washington Chapter, PGA “Golf Professional of the Year” in 1999 & 2000. A five time “Horton Smith Award” winner in the Western Washington Chapter, PGA and the Pacific Northwest Section, PGA for the continuing development of education for PGA members and apprentices. An eight time member of the Western Washington Chapter “North-South Cup Team” , for area professionals with the best scoring averages. Has won 15 times as a professional in the Western Washington Chapter, PGA. Past President of the Western Washington Chapter, PGA. Coached both the Men’s and Women’s Golf Programs at Western Washington University, with the men’s squad (1989-2003) finishing 1st or 2nd place in eleven straight events. The women’s squad (2000-2004) finished 5th in the NCAA national championships in 2003 & 2004. Named 2004 NCAA West Regional “Women’s Golf Coach of the Year”. Former Whatcom County Amateur Champion, (1979). A graduate of Ferndale High School, (1978) where Dean lettered two years for his Golden Eagle squad that finished seventh in the 1978 State “AA” championships. |

Greg Chico RussellA lifetime resident of Ferndale, "Chico" started golfing at the age of 10. He was a 2 yr letterman & a 4 yr letterman & 2 yr captain of the golf team at FHS where he still holds the 18-hole scoring average in 1973. He entered the golf business in 1978 as a greens keeper and is knowledgeable in all facts of the golf industry. He has been a teaching professional for the past 10 years, and has enjoyed being part of the "Russell Tandem" with brother Dean for the past 20 years. Away from golf, "Chico" can be found fishing or watching high school sports. He has played softball for 20 years in whatcom county. He performed the "Trifecta" when he pitched a no-hitter in a state softball tourney, made 2 holes-in-one, & bowled a 300 game in sanctioned league play. |
